Kameo __look beyond your soul
The silvery female glided softly through the dark waters of the night, slowly pumping her blades up and down through the endless depths of the ocean. She let out a low whistle, to see if anyone would answer, but only silence and the sounds of her own movements echoed back. How many aquas are left in the world? Surely I am not the last... she thought to herself, black eyes scanning the rather low-lighted waters. Kameo had not spied another aqua for a very, very long time. Perhaps she was the last, perhaps not, but either way, it was lonely.
The great blue was...well great. Many species lived within it, some thrived and others dwindled down to nonexistence. The aquas were a species that were making a come-back. Once threatened they had begun to rebuild their population, slowly but surely making a comeback. Today was beautiful, the sun distorted as it hit the water, casting shadows here and there. Many shadows were that of the aqua race themselves. The sun drew out the best in all of them and they gathered here in the Truce Sea. The Truce Sea was a beautiful place, the water was crystal clear as if those who swam within it were swimming in nothing, this looked like heaven. Coral reefs built themselves up, bright colors contrasting against one another. Neon fish swam in schools chattering to one another about the latest gossip. Fish were quite the talkers, if you wanted the scoop you went to them. However, a single bull spiraled and swam off by himself, enjoying the sun as it warmed the water around him. A slight smile lit up his features. His eyes were soft and kind, with an edge...he was a Sky-Water. Not dark, and not completely light...more of an undecided soul. A call reached him, and he immediately sent an answer. So there was another one of his kind here. His blades pumped faster pushing him towards the females call. "Greetings." His tone was low and whispery, all to unreal.
The bottlenose floated through the depths at a medium pace, not in a hurry for anything, but not wanting to stop either. Kameo had never stayed in one place for long, she was constantly moving along and deciding and rediciding what she wanted to do. The last time she had seen anyone of her species, let alone even so much as a whale, it had been back when she clung to her aunt's dorsal and watched the underwater world with big eyes of youth and inexperience. Now she was grown up, on her own, and knew enough to keep herself out of trouble's hands, though there had been times when she had been almost captured by the sand walkers, their horrid fins that were so long and reached out with five tentacles, like the death grips of the giant squid that haunted the deeps. How they had thrown a horrid plant on her, tough and woven and thick, unbreakable. But no sooner had they dragged her onto the glaring sunlight of their floating rock, Kameo had given a hard slap of her blades and tumbled back over the side, landing with a smack and catapulting far away.
That had been a few months ago, but ever since then she had seen no signs of any aquas, and had slowly begun to give up hope when a call reached the special sensors deep with her silver cast. Greetings. It sounded exactly like a real aqua, not a cheap, phony call of a smooth rock created by sand walkers, but a true call. Kameo answered quickly with a happy whistle, aiming for whatever animal she couldn't quite see in the murkier waters of her corner of the sea.
"Hello! Who are you, where are you?"
Her blades moved a little faster, nosel drifting left and right, searching for that whom carried conversation with her.
